When the whales come to play, Hervey Bay starts to party!    The Hervey Bay Whale Festival kicks off the festivities with the Blessing of the Fleet on the 1st Saturday of August at the Urangan Boat Harbour marking the beginning of the Hervey Bay Whale Watch season.   The Whale Day Carnival at Seafront Oval on the 2nd Saturday of August is next with the The Chronicle Illuminated Street Parade and Grand finale of spectacular fireworks.   Plus many more events not to be missed!

Celebrate the Sea and the arrival of the whales to Hervey Bay at the Boat Harbour Marina with boutique food and wine, Blues and Jazz bands  

Blessing of the Fleet
The blessing of the fleet at 5.30pm is a highlight of the Hervey Bay Whale Festival.  As the sun sets priests perform the traditional blessing to officially launch the whale watching season.  There are nine magnificant whale watch vessels participating and each will proceed into the Marina for the ceremony.  Don’t miss the fantastic fireworks display at 6.30pm to celebrate the Blessing of the Whale Watch Fleet.

 
Condy Park Teddy Bears Picnic
Bring your teddy bear in his or her best sea themed disguise.  Arrive at 9am for breakfast, coffee or devonshire tea by the lake.  Be Entertained by Rompin Stompin, The Kawungan Skippers, school choirs and other talented young locals.  Sack races, rides, stalls, food and activities.  prices for the best dressed “Celebrate the Sea” themed Teddy; Most Looks like their Owner and Most Loved Teddy.

 
 
Whale Day Carnival
Have a “Whale of a Time” at the Whale Day Carnival at Seafront Oval with stage entertainment, market stalls, rides, food and beverages,  the Rainbow Eco Show, John Sharp the Magician, a Whale Play for the kids, and roving performers and fireworks!   The Chronicle Illuminated Street Parade The them this year is “Celebrate the Sea”.  Don’t miss this unique display of  Illuminated Street Parade floats winding their way through town.  Starting this year at Pialba Place and winding its way down to the Seafront Oval Esplanade to the Seafront Oval.
